Fanazavàna teny anglisy  [Betsileo] [Mod. s. from manoro (oro), boka, a leper.] Herbs, the juice from the leaves of which when applied to the skin blisters it; hence among the Betsileo those who have symptoms of leprosy thus apply it, the skin then peeling off; hence its name. Clematis oligophylla, Hook., and C. Bojeri, Hook. [1.2]
Fanazavàna teny frantsay  [Betsileo] (de fanoro et boka : le lépreux ; c'est une plante qu'on indique au lépreux) Clematis scabiosifolia DC. et Clematis pimpinellifolia Hook. (Ranunculaceae). Les feuilles écrasées étaient appliquées en emplâtres sur les plaies lépreuses. Très vésicantes, elles rendaient les lésions lépreuses méconnaissables et permettaient aux malades d'échapper au dépistage. [1.196]
