Pisces
alohotsy
[3.1]
the name of the twelfth month in the Malagasy year. Called also volam-padina. It used to be considered an unlucky month, when diseases were supposed to be more frequent, and wounds incurable. During this month the sakalava do not change their residence; they abstain from all rough work in which they might be hurt; and when the moon is full, chiefs retire to their houses and give up all business. During the last five days of the month the Hova formerly avoided shedding blood of any kind. [Ar. al-hutu - Pisces.] [1.2]
